Beginning from April 15, 2011 purchases of goods and services in the Internet could be paid by debit cards (Debit MasterCard, Maestro and Maestro Deebet Pluss).

The payment of Internet transactions by debit cards is allowed only in defined by Mastercard International countries (the list of countries could be found here).

The usage of debit card for payment is allowed only if the seller of an e-shop accepts Maestro card for payment. In this case, the Maestro card logo or relevant message should be displayed on the seller’s website.

To confirm the status of a card holder while shopping online is necessary to use the special 3-digit CVC 2 (Card Validation Code 2) code, that is provided by the bank.

The CVC 2 code is issued from April 15, 2011 when receiving a debit card; it will be issued with a PIN-code, in a sealed envelope, and will be known only to card holder. Its safety, as well as the safety of the PIN-code, should be provided as appropriate.

The bank clients, who have already received debit cards and would like to use them in the Internet transactions, could receive the CVC2 code by forwarding a writing application to the bank or visiting the nearest Tallinn Business Bank office.

Please note that CVC 2 code is used only in the Internet transactions. For all other operations, including cash withdrawal from ATMs, the 4-digit PIN-code is used.
